Paradise in the clouds

Obudu… the promised land for every Nigerian, with mind-blowing nature, astounding views… a place where birds sing all day, and where accommodations don’t come cheap...at all. A little up north of Calabar, and “only” a 7 hour (yes seven) drive away, you can let go of all stress and find yourself in a dream of green.The title of this entry should have been: "Going through hell to reach heaven", but we already have a religious entry, so… Getting there was an absolute adventure and once or twice the thought of not having a legal will, kinda crossed my mind… Roadblocks everywhere, holes in the road, more than 140 km/h in a toyota van recuperated from Woodstock and a driver with a Formula 1 aspiration. All the way from Calabar we got an escort from the police all the way through, and their AK47s were comforting at times, when we slowed down and light was fading out. Boys and their toys… gotta love it, James Bond would have peed his pants seeing Abi pulling a guerrilla move on us. (picture Abi and gun). The race was very dangerous, as it gets dark here around 6pm, we left around noon and arrived around 8 pm or so, hungry as a wolf. luckely there was a buffet restaurant, and we ordered 2 bottles of chateau migraine and then went back to our presidential Suite and burned some wood, had some wine and talk. We did have to go to reception to find a screwdriver... raising the bar.. I tell ya...
So, finally we got to the place, unfortunately it was already dark, so pictures won’t go well in this section. The little rooms we were put in, were like not really little, more as in huge. Ryan and I got a house, with 2 large bedrooms with separate bedrooms, a guest-room, kitchen, living room with fireplace. Now, when you put on a fire, there’s a couple of basic instructions to follow and opening the valve of the chimney is certainly somewhere on the top of the list. Next morning we smelled like grills and BBQ gone cold, but hell, we had a great evening !
